Green Tea Gunpowder
Is Green or Black tea toxic for rats?
I know that for humans, Green tea, especially, the gunpowder varieties have been known to have anti-carcinogen properties for humans (at least as a preventative measure). If human and rat systems are as closely similar as everyone thinks would it be possible to give rats tea (in addition to blueberries, asaci berries, etc) as a preventative measure against tumor growth? Maybe not the highly concentrated variety in the average cup of tea, but after you've drunk your tea, you could re-use the leaves/tea bag in new water and steep whatever is left out, to give to them maybe? It's been floating about in my head for a day or to.
You should check out the Yahoo group for the holistic care for rats. Yes, you can give them the teas. I don't even do diluted. If I have some tea and they're around and want some, they can have some. I've given my guys some cooled off green tea when they were under the weather, and I've also made chicken soup for the rats when they were ailing.
Just realize that the healing properties of all these natural foods and plants that prevent cancer have to be eaten or drunk in such immense amounts to do any real good. It's also a matter of genetics. Cancer is carried down through the generations, and I know that first hand, and from my own experiences.
If you want to further the lives of your rats, feed them a good diet (preferably organic) along with filtered or bottled water.
